Why I'm Hosting This Podcast
The last time I worked on a non-Agile marketing team I was miserable. We never hit a deadline, I was always ping-ponging from one urgent demand to another, and all I thought about was putting out the next fire.
Then, I discovered Agile, and everything changed.
Ever since that day 10 years ago I haven't shut up about Agile marketing, so it's kind of weird that I haven't had a podcast until now. But the reason The Agile Marketing Edge is launching in 2025 is because too many people are questioning whether marketers really need to be Agile.
Frankly, that's a ridiculous question. With AI revolutionizing the profession, budgets getting slashed, and marketers still being expected to be everywhere all the time, we've never needed to be Agile more than now.
The problem, partially, is that the phrase "Agile marketing" has gotten watered down. It's associated with reactive activity without a purpose, instead of focused commitment to the highest value work.
That needs to change.
So this podcast aims to do two important things:
- Establish a clear, unequivocal definition for what Agile marketing is, how it works, and why it matters.
- Provide a practical roadmap for applying Agile to marketing, wherever you work and whatever your title.
We won't be pulling any punches here. We'll be going straight to the heart of critical process issues that marketers need to tackle so they can claim the agility that they desperately need and definitely deserve.
So that's why this podcast exists. Here's why I'm its host:
- Co-authored the world's first internationally recognized certification in Agile marketing, ICP-MKG, with ICAgile in 2017
- Wrote the definitive book on the subject, Mastering Marketing Agility, as well as its prequel, Death of a Marketer
- Through AgileSherpas' annual State of Agile Report, have run and analyzed thousands of surveys exploring how marketers use Agile to work smarter. 2025 marked our eighth consecutive year of running that report
- Authored over 250 articles on Agile marketing, process improvement, Agile leadership, and change management for outlets like Forbes, Content Marketing Institute, Inc., and CMSWire
- Spoken at dozens of events on multiple continents, including SXSW, Atlassian Teams, Adobe Summit, Content Marketing World, and Global Scrum Gathering
- As its CEO, led AgileSherpas to the Inc. 5000 list for two consecutive years by serving the marketing community with our Agile training, coaching, and consulting offerings
- Formal honors include:
- Top 10 Management Consultant to Watch by Entrepreneur Magazine
- Member of the Colorado Titan 100 for 2025
- Top 50 Women We Admire in Business Consulting
- Entrepreneur's Organization of Colorado Chapter Leader of the Year 2025
- Business Agility Ambassador for the Agile Business Consortium
The TL;DR of all of that is that I'm both a career marketer and an Agile marketing nerd, who's also spent nearly a decade running a professional services business.
Everything I talk about on this podcast I've either done myself or helped somebody do; nothing is hypothetical or theoretical. I'm not an Agile purist, nor am I someone who thinks complexity is a good excuse for not acting.
So if you're a marketer who's ready to roll up your sleeves and stop feeling overworked and overwhelmed, you're in the right place.
